COMMUNITY
The community center involved a significant element of conservation. The programme required for the preservation of existing masonry facade which was built in late 19th century. The site was situated at a hilly topography and the design aimed for integration of circulation from different levels. This project was my final thesis for Master in Architecture.
MUSEUM
This design was the redevelopment of terra cotta warrior museum in Xian (西安). The drawing illustrated the proposal for pit no. 3 of the museum complex. It had an arched 'glulam' timber roof to span over the pit of excavation. The use of timber correlated to traditional vernacular architecture in the Orient. This project was one of the main projects when I was studying in the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
HERITAGE REGENERATION
This was a conservation design for a heritage revitalization project in Glasgow. The existing church building was subjected to arson attack in the 60s, leaving behind the peripheral wall and the tower. The program called for provision of multi-functional space to host community based events. In details, you can find my research carried out during study in the University of Strathclyde.
CULTURE
Feasibility study was to explore options to provide for the new teaching annex in an academy for performance arts. The study was carried out during the stage for fund bidding of the project. By that time, I was a newly qualified architect in Hong Kong. In the website, it featured the presentation models which were completed by myself.
HERITAGE COMMUNITY
This was one of the earliest projects of mine when I was taking the first degree in architectural studies. The project called for the provision of community centre in one of the oldest settlements in Hong Kong. It explored the relationship of community with traditional oriental architecture.
