MUSEUM

The project called for the redesign of enclosure for the terra cotta warrior museum in Xian (西安). For pit no. 3, the 'glulam' arches spanned over the existing excavation pit. Each arch had a span of approximate 50m in length. The timber arches featured prominently on the exterior elevation which had brise soleil to shelter the artifacts from direct sunlight. The architectural language adopted a minimum approach.
